IS YOUR DOCTOR UNAVAILABLE?
Need help outside of your doctor’s normal consulting hours?
Telehealth Doctor NQ may be able to provide telehealth appointments if your doctor is unavailable.
Contact Telehealth Doctor NQ on 1300 255 562 or visit their website https://www.telehealthdoctornq.com.au/ to book an appointment.
Alternatively, visit Ingham Hospital located at 2-16 McIlwraith Street, Ingham or phone the Emergency Department on (07) 4720 3031.
You can also contact Health Direct on 1800 022 222 who will be able to provide you advice.
Your regular doctor may be able to conduct a home visit if you have a condition that prevents you from attending an in-person consultation. However, this is at your doctor’s discretion. Please speak to the front office receptionists who will be able to ask your doctor if this is a service they are able to provide.
The doctors we support at Ingham Family Medical Practice accept walk in patients. Walk in patients are triaged following our triage policy and then advised of their estimated wait times.
Your doctors offer normal and long appointments. If you anticipate your consultation will require a longer visit, please notify reception when making the appointment.
Consultations occurring before 8:00 am, after 8:00 pm and after 1:00 pm on a Saturday will be charged at After Hours rates by your doctor. Please see the below fees charged by the independent doctors operating from our practice.

Whilst the doctors operating from Ingham Family Medical do not bulk-bill patients, they may bulk bill purple pension card holders and children 16 and under at their discretion.
The doctors operating from Ingham Family Medical Practice request that all their patients book a consultation for any repeat scripts, referrals and travel forms.
Your doctor may charge a fee associated with replacement scripts, referrals, pathology and x-ray requests that are lost.
Some vaccines and medications can incur an additional fee which is to be paid on the day.
If you are in need of emergency medical care while at home, ring 000 and ask for an ambulance. If you are in the practice, please notify a staff member or one of the independent medical practitioners.
Your doctor requests that you make book a short appointment for any repeat prescriptions. If this consult is kept to a script only, you doctor will bulk bill their consultation directly to Medicare. However, if other concerns are discussed during the consult, your doctor may elect to charge a fee.
“Script orders will continue to be taken for nursing home patients only.”
Please note: this is for prescriptions that your regular doctor has previously prescribed to you. Not for new prescriptions, a change of medication or new patients to the independent doctors operating from our practice.
Your doctors require that their patients have an in-person consultation for a renewal of a referral to see a specialist. Reception staff will fax and mail the original referral to the specialist and a copy will be given back to you to take with you to the appointment.
Some specialist rooms may ring you to make an appointment.
Not all specialists bulk-bill or follow DVA schedules. Please ask the reception staff at the specialist’s rooms when making your appointment.
Telehealth gives your doctors the ability to consult their patients who live in rural and remote areas, giving their patients access to specialists without needing to travel long distances. Specialists who are able to offer this service include: Endocrinology, Dermatology, Allergy & Immunology, Fertility, Renal Medicine, Geriatrics, Neurology, Oncology & Haematology, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics & Psychiatry. Please call our reception so that we may advise your doctors.
To support your doctors, we use an automatic recall system, by both telephone and mail, for immunisations, pathology results and follow-up visits. Please notify reception if you have received a recall and we will notify your doctor.
Please let your doctor know if you would also like to be on the cervical screening Register.
Your doctors make every effort to minimize the time that their patients have to wait for their consultation, and therefore our office staff attempt to keep disruptions for the doctors to a minimum during their consultation hours.
It is important that your mail, telephone and email contact details are kept current in your chart. Please notify reception of any changes to your details. All phone calls will be documented in your patient file.
Supporting your doctors so that they can provide quality health care is our principal concern. We understand that there needs to be a doctor-patient relationship of trust and confidentiality. Your doctor regards patient health information as confidential and will only collect this information with their patient’s consent. In order to facilitate your doctor’s provision of medical services, we collect personal information from you, which will be handled in accordance with this practice’s privacy policy and is consistent with privacy legislation. You can view our Privacy Policy Here.
If you wish to have your results given to family members or carers, please sign and return a Patient Authorization Form.
This is a “paper–free” practice. All information of a personal nature is stored on computer file and is protected by a series of passwords. Only authorized staff and your independent medical professionals may access this information. Patient records are treated with the utmost confidentiality. Patient records are not stored or left visible in areas where non-authorised persons can see them.
Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to your doctor and authorised members of staff.
If you have any comments, complaints, or criticisms, or just a good idea, please fill in a feedback form located in the waiting room on top of the magazine rack. Alternatively, please speak with reception or the Practice Manager.
If you require an interpreter to help you with communicating during your visit with your doctor, please let us know at the time of making your appointment so that we can help you to arrange this. If you would prefer, you may bring a family member or friend with you. We are aware that in some instances, having a third person present during a consultation presents some problems such as reluctance for the patient to disclose some information, or biased translation of information. You will be asked to sign a consent form for this third person to be present at your consultation. A free interpreting service is available for patients who are deaf and use Australian Sign Language (AUSLAN). Contact the National AUSLAN Interpreter Booking and Payment Service (NABS) on 1800 246 945 or visit the NABS website for further information. Centrelink in Ingham also has interpreters available.
Smoking is not permitted on our practice premises or in the immediate environment. Please notify reception if you are going outside to smoke.
Our building has ambulance and wheelchair access at the rear of the building and wheelchair access to the front door. Staff are on duty at all times to assist, and a wheelchair is available if required.
Toys and books are provided for children in the special area set aside in the waiting room. Parents are asked to supervise children at all times for the safety and comfort of everyone. Colouring pictures and pencils are also available – please ask reception.
An outdoor play area is provided for all children awaiting a consultation with their doctor. It is the responsibility of
all parents to supervise their children whilst in the play area. No food or drinks are allowed.
Complimentary tea and coffee is available while waiting to see your doctor. This is located on the left hand
side of the waiting room near the water cooler.
Sullivan & Nicolaides operates a collection centre in the building next to the practice in Ingham from 7.30 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday, and on Saturday morning from 8.00 am to 10.30 am.
Your doctors require their patients to have an in-person consultation to have travel forms completed and signed. Please let reception know when organising your consultation with your doctor if you require these forms.
